Looking to get rid of magnet lights

Hey y'all, I have a 2012 Jeep Unlimited and want to hardwire the tail lights and not use the magnet ones. I purchased a kit from Blue-Ox but the blubs will not fit into the houseing. If I wire into the harness on the Jeep will it back feed to the front lights? Do I need to put diodes inline on the running and directionals?
Thank you for the help!!

    DJK,

I have wired the tail and turn & stop lights on a half dozen or so cars by adding diodes (a 4 pack from Radio Shack is $3).

I have a schematic that I can Email to you and walk you the details if you want to tackle it yourself.

MY schematic does NOT use the orange turn signals on your car, but uses the red tail lights and uses the red brake lights also as turn signals.

PM me if you want the schematic and the P/N of the Shack diode pack.

    Tim
  • Its done by wiring into the existing taillights with diodes to prevent feedback. Check with Blue Ox, they should be able to provide what you need.
