You know bookworm, if you had said from the outset you want to buy a new RV, that'd be one thing, but you started off talking about the cost of repairs and so on, which led some..me..to think maybe you were thinking of fixing. Why not just say...we are buying a new RV and where do you folks shop? And it's quite normal/usual to not like some of the people that you will be invited to deal with. Just because some like them, doesn't mean we all have to.

Sorry. I didn't mean for it to come off that way. I think right now we're just so confused. We haven't totally ruled out not fixing it yet, and we haven't fully decided to buy new, or quit RV'ing altogether. It's all so up in the air and I'm more just thinking out loud at this point and hoping for a sounding board. There aren't too many people around here that we can talk through these kinds of things with.
Fixing costs $$$ that I'm not sure it's wise to spend on a unit that old. Frankly, yes, I'd rather spend that money on something newer that we would enjoy more. But... If spending that $$$ is going to cause more headaches than joy, then it might be best to just lay low for a few years until we can more fully explore dealers and repair centers when we aren't tied to this area b/c of jobs. Or, it might be best to fix our current unit and just lump it until then. But there are so many pros and cons to each that it's hard to see straight.
At one point, buying something else seemed like a no brainer, but then we started researching these places more in depth and talking to them and were bitterly disappointed by what we found. That's why it's so hard now to know what to do.
