IF you are in a campground on a site with electricity RUN the Air conditioner, IF it is too cold to need it run it in FAN ONLY mode.. ON HIGH.
Yes they are noisy... for about 5 minutes, then your brain creates a very effective noise filter... And the "noise" of the A/C will drown out a whole lot of Diesel exhaust.
Unless it is on the site right next to me.. I am never bothered by 'em. and not often then. Now the car on the site next to where I woke up (A 50's buick I think) that thing is souped up a bit too, thus louder than factory.. But that's one sweet sound.
(I do like a gasoline engine under load as well.. Idling not so much, but under load it's sweet music... Old farm boy don't you know).
