Have spent most of my life traveling for work and too many hotel rooms to count. Learned my lesson years ago in Los Angeles. I had a stop over for the night. The noise outside was tremendous. I couldn't sleep and there were no rooms to move to. In the morning I discovered the problem. The window behind the curtain was cracked about three inches. Who knew and why would the window be open?
Since then, the first thing I check is to see if the maid closed the window.
