Its been said around here before but this thread begs a repeat. If you have an iPhone, iPad, or any android phone or tablet, you need to install the free app GasBuddy. It will tell you the cheapest gas or diesel prices near you based on your location. In use it extensively when I travel and I routinely save $10 to $15 a tank. FYI. Dallas diesel low is $2.79 tonight.
Have to be careful with GasBuddy. I live a couple of blocks from a SAMs station. Some wise guys are always entering 3-5¢ more than a USA station a block away. SAMs is always a penny or two cheaper. - down_homeExplorer IIWe're filling our tanks at about 1/2 ,of what it cost first, of the year.
Low fuel prices are causing a lot, of economic activity. - hbillsmithExplorerIts been said around here before but this thread begs a repeat. - Parrothead_MikeExplorerI'm not going to offer any helpful advice, but I sure am happy with the sounds of those prices for diesel. Getting ready to head to Florida for about 2-3 months. Last year diesel prices were between $3.79 - $4.05/gallon and cost me about $475 to tow down. I should save between 15-20%. Happy camper here!
- hankpageExplorerAlways store the tank full to prevent condensation and use an additive. I have used SeaFoam for years and have not had any problems with algae growth or clogged filters. JM2¢, Hank
- azrvingExplorerDon't worry about buying it now. If it was that big of an issue you wouldn't own an rv in the first place. I'm not being a smart a. just saying that $25.00 savings isn't worth worrying about if as others mentioned you plug a filter. Fill the tank, go for a ride and burn it up and then fill it with fresh stuff.
- The_TexanExplorerOne of our dozers on the ranch set for close to 15 years with a full tank of diesel and when started it ran fine and we used the entire tank before refueling and then shut it down again for who knows how long. Diesel will NOT go stale, if properly stored.
- coolbreeze01ExplorerFirst, make sure there isn't any water in the auxiliary tank. The price will probably go even lower. Don't get in a hurry. What difference does a few cents make up or down anyway?
- C-BearsExplorerAlgae will surely grow in a few months when diesel is stored in a dark sealed place. You will know it when your fuel filters start getting clogged up way before they are due to be changed.
I would use an additive to prevent algae growth. - rhagfoExplorer IIICrazy is we have a Rocket Fuel station selling at $2.69 a gal, and a Shell station a block away selling for $3.61 a gal, yes $3.61, is that crazy!!! I know where I will buy my next tank! They move a lot of fuel through that station.
