Macerator Pro&Con

Are they worth having? Do they empty faster? Thanks
  • I have one at home because it is a 100' run with little slope to my septic. So I ran 1" PVC from the camper to my septic. I now have full hookups at home.
  • I have one. I love it. The clean out at my house is in the backyard - to pump using the 3" stinky slinkies, I had to use a 15' and a 10' slinky to go from the drain on the RV, around the back of the RV, through the back gate, past the back porch, and to the clean out. There was no hill, but the distance made for a nice big static bulge at about 12 feet in - so I'd have to grab the slinky and raise it as I pushed the bulge along the rest of the 13' to the clean out. There was ALWAYS a leak at a joint, etc.

With the macerator, I use a 50' hose on a hose reel. I attach one end to the macerator and drop the other end into the clean out. The pump pushes everything right on through without any effort. It takes less time to dump with the macerator and a 3/4" hose than it did with the 3" slinky. And no mess or leaks.

No they empty a lot slower, but if you need to pump 50 feet or up hill they are nice to have.

If you need to pump up hill. yes. I have one that I have never used but it does not bother me to handle the 3" drain pipes.
