Mail problems very fustrated

Last winter we went south for a couple months. Had mail forwarded to our sons house. When I fill out the card at post office I indicate household forward. So all mail with address should be forwarded.
Well I had my son check on the house a few times and he found mail in box. Some of it was 3rd class mail, ( no names no address). When I returned home I asked the post office person why. She tells me it is the carriers responsibility to not deliver anything to the address. Several times I receive neighbors mail and they receive mine. I ordered something from Amazon, of course it was delivered via US mail. i tracked my packaged, according to Amazon and U.S. Postal service it was delivered. I received no package. Went to post office to complain. When I was there person called postal carrier on phone and asked him where he left package. First he said he left it on the side porch. I told him I don't have a side porch. Then he said he left it at the back door. Well he can not get to back door fenced in and only accessed through garage which was locked.
Then it dawned on me where he delivered it. My address ends 500 where he delivered it ends in 5000. I have received this person mail before. I complained to post master at our branch. She said she reprimanded him.
Well we are on a trip again. Had mail forward again to my sons house. We have been gone now 2 days. Had my sister in law run by and check mail box. Of course there is mail left in box. Some of it was personal mail. Called post office to complain again. Post master not in. Left message for her to call me first thing in morning. I guess if she is no help I will have to contact her boss.
Very fustrated, how do I get a guarantee that my mail will be taking care of when we travel.

  • My experience with the US Mail has been awesome! My carrier is friendly, helpful, and efficient. The ladies at the Post Office are equally friendly, helpful, and efficient. I could not ask for better service.
  • All my mail goes to St. Brendan's Isle Private Message Box. They are a mail forwarding company. I started using them right after we sold our house and really, really love this service. I think I'd continue to use them even if I bought another house. I like having one permanent address and not worrying about receiving mail.

    What makes it great is that they scan every envelope and throw out the junk mail without me even getting involved. They can scan the contents if I need it and they can even deposit checks for me.
  • When the neighbors near our cottage forward their mail for the winter, either they or the carrier wrap a rubber band around the mail box door catch. I've seen the same thing on other area mail boxes when the summer residents leave and cancel their forwarding.
  • We lived in CA now in WY. Haven't found a mailman that could get it right yet. I live rural. I have all my mail going to a PMB in town. Seems to have solved my problem.
