Making the neighbors angry

Don't go to a family campground like Lakewood in Myrtle Beach on July 4th if you don't want to see/hear kids running around.
It says in big letters FAMILY CAMPGROUND.
That typically means kids.

Older couple behind me gave us the stink-eye all weekend. I tried and my mother in law tried to say hi, but they turned their backs on us. Literally turned their chairs the other way.
4 families all around them with kids. We didn't know each other, but our kids had a great time. I think 4 girls an 2 boys from 6 to 12 years old. They're gonna scream a little.

    That's all the counts. ;)
Good for you and all the camping FAMILIES.

Family campground, Summer time, and a national holiday, what did they expect! :S
  • I find that type of thing somewhat comical. If kids get too much for me I either close up or leave. We eat dinner early most of the time when we go out, usually between 5:30 & 6:00 and most often it's a place that's kid-friendly. I just love the people who whine because hungry kids are making noise.
  • I wouldn't worry about it as they must of knew what to expect from a family campground, particularly on a busy holiday weekend. Glad to hear you and your kids had a great time even with unfriendly neighbors.

There are many campgrounds that cater to virtually any type of camping anyone could prefer, read over campground rules and regulations to see what is or isn't allowed before plopping down your money.

After that you could only blame yourself for your choice, as long as they aren't breaking any rules or laws there's not much anyone can do but move on or grin and bear it. Doing some research beforehand helps avoid these situations.
  • That's why we try to never stay in family friendly parks. If we have to we ask for a sight as far away from the pool and playground as possible. If we can't get one and there are no other options we stay and make the best of it. Kids scream, dogs bark, dogs bark at screaming kids. Deal with it. Before anyone complains, we are now retired teachers and we used to travel summers only. We loved kids but during the summer, our vacation, we do enjoy having the parents take care of them. That doesn't always happen and then you have to adapt, overcome or improvise.
