Mat rant

Spent 2 weeks Baja Sur Mexico roght on the beach, using just a doormat, cooked on a white gas Coleman stove at the picnic table, spent most of my time fishing and swimming.

Where we host I have a 90 site loop that is almost all grass, more than half of those are totally grass, no gravel or other pads for the rig, put it where you want on the grass.

I cut that grass and have not had any issues with the use of mats killing it. Worst case is a large yellowed spot if someone was there for a week or max 14 days. In those cases it all comes back in 2 or 3 days. Nothing to lose sleep over.

Camp at the beach a LOT mat goes out then the The Best Door Mat goes on it, very little gets by all that :B

They don't care they are there for a week or two and kill the grass with their mat. next year they may come back and put their mat back down as usual, killing any grass that has come up.
Everyone else gets to experience the mud hole and the mud splashed on tires and wheels and wading it into the coach and back out to the car and muddy shoes they must clean and steps an sometimes into the coach. A good grassy site stops all that but these city people want a living room outdoors and probably never experienced thick lush grass between their toes, or clean wheels and tires, I get older cleaning those things is a chore. Last trip I put lengths of plastic carpet runner next to tires and stopped the splash butt could not enjoy outside under the awning or get to a grassy area because of the mud!

When I’m in an RV park that doesn’t allow mats on the grass I put a cut to size mat on the two entry stair steps. Works fine.

With you 100%. And just because someone had an experience where the grass didn't die doesn't mean it isn't an issue.We strictly enforce a no mat rule. It is disclosed on the website and on the documents at check in. First time we see one we ask you to put it away or roll it up and leave you a note if you are not there. Second time you are asked to take your mat elsewhere. Frankly, the grass is worth more than the rent on that site.

Well, we were on a grass site last week and I thought the same thing; no need for the mat. Maybe they had just mowed the grass there or something, but I started getting big clumps of grass coming in on the bottom of the shoes. Yep, the mat went out right away...

We were there three days; the grass underneath the mat was fine when we left.
