We drop our dinette and sleep on the cushions, which don't make for a great bed mattress. Years ago we got a 2" memory foam mattress from Walmart, cut it to fit, and have used it every since. We would have gone thicker, but we have to be able to easily fold it up and put it out of the way when needed.
A friend of my daughter said our TT bed with memory foam is the most comfortable bed she's ever slept in! I don't know about that, but it works great for us.
