I am planning to get Maxxair vent covers on my class C.Question 1: It looks like the Maxxair original is about $31 online & the Maxxair II is about $40 online. I'm guessing that people would generally recommend the II over the original for only $9 more but please advise if you have an opinion on this.Question 2: We have 2 roof normal roof vents, 1 Fantastic Fan vent, & 1 bathroom fan vent. I am planning to put the Maxxair on just the 2 normal roof vents. A local RV service place I trust said not to put one on the Fantastic Fan vent (unfortunately, I can't remember the reason why). Do people have them on their Fantastic Fan vents - if so, do you like them there or not? It seems to me like I'd want one on the Fantastic Fan vent but was told not to for some reason.Thanks!

#2 I had a Maxxair on my Fantastic Fan and it was a little small so that when the lid opened on the fan it caught on the cover and striped the lift gear out.Fantastic Fan makes their own cover I would recommend that as it is proper sized and flows more air.

A regular Maxxair vent cover is not tall enough to allow the FantasticFan door to open all the way. Causes damage.

Why you should not put a Cover on a Fantastic Fan.There are a few different models of Fantastic Fan..Some of them have electric motors that raise and lower the cover. At least one you open and close by hand.The problem is the covers, are NOT large enough to allow you to fully open the cover in many cases (MaxxAir II may be, Not sure) and this can lead to cracking of the lid.If the FF is an automatic (Powered head) model the cover prevents it from sensing Rain.And in all cases the cover CAN restrict air flow...Slightly.

If you want a cover for the Fantastic fan, you'll need the Maxxair II to allow the fan lid to fully open. We have 2 Fantastic fans and the Maxxair II covers on them and they work great for us. The rain sensor won't work with the cover, but why would you need that?

Having 4 roof vents in mine I use the Maxx Air original on 3,one over the bathroom vent that has a fan,and the Maxx Air Fan Mate over my Fantastic Fan.They all work great and I am able to open them all at any time Rain or Shine.

yep, I usually ran my fan at a lower speed also.

Vid would only be credible if they had used an air flow meter to measure the difference. The amount the hinge flap moves is dependent on it's weight and the air flow and neither is known - easy to make the difference look much more dramatic than it really is.

Even if the air flow is reduced a bit, just turn your fan up a notch. I don't think there's a need to run the fan at the 100% setting very often plus they're quite noisy at the higher settings anyway. We don't often run ours above the min. setting and the Maxxair II cover works great.

I always get a kick out of that video. They tested every MaxxAir vent plus others except the Fan/Mate Which was their recommended cover before they came out with theirs.:B

Take that video with a grain of salt- they measure flow on the Maxxairs with screens installed, and on the Fantastic covers without the "optional" screens.

The standard Maxxair will work OK if you remove the screen, and don't want to run it on high II also raise it a bit so there is a larger gap around the base). The II works fine any way you want it, but without screens it flows more than enough.

I went with the Maxxair II, it flows more air and allows you to open the vent more, however my vents don't open all the way. The Fantastic Ultrabreeze cover is probably the best and flows the most air, but was a little out of my budget. Nice video comparing covers found here:

thats why ther are different maxxairs. the original is designed for just a roof vent, the maxxair II is designed to use with the fan. more clearance, higher flow etc.

I have the standard covers over both our vents. Our Fan-tastic Fan is the manual type. Yes, I cannot open it all the way. No, it doesn't matter much.

On the automatic ones,like I have, when the lid contacts anything it stops. It is a built-in safety device.
