Maxxaire vs Fantastic fans

I'm a big 'fan' of the MaxxAir vent, since it can be open rain or shine, parked or driving, running or off. IMO, for smaller RV's it looks more 'in proportion' than a FF with a vent cover, too.

I've had mine since early '06, one minor failure. The 'lid open' safety switch got stuck about year 4; easy to diagnose and fix. It's been parked outside all this time without issues.

I installed one of each. Fantastic in the bathroom and Maxxair in the bedroom. I cannot say either one is noisier or better than the other. I'm happy with both. I will say the Maxxair has the electronic speed control and at certain speeds it does emit a very slight whine. If it bothers me I just speed it up or slow it down a tad. Not really an issue. Both are quality products IMO.

love my fantastic fans... i installed the maxxaire in my moms class C.. i think the fantastic vents are quieter... could be the way the roof is built...

I put in the maxxaire type that had the fan/motor moved back and pointed down and it was much quieter than my fanatastics. can be used during the rain, etc. I do NOT want something with that magic rain sensor etc. that can fail.

Just this Spring I installed a MaxxFan. No experience comparing noise other than comments from a few people that said they were about the same. I was going for Fantastic till I saw how the MaxxFan opens when you want to use it and it can be run in the rain. Since a lot of the time I will want to use it is those hot mid west rainy nights. When it is down it is almost as low as a standard vent so I have lower clearance than running a fix storm cover.
