Mine were date coded late in 2011, and I bought them in early 2012. I still am very happy with my Maxxis though. Had 2 sets on my previous trailer with 5 rs on the first set with no problems.
I didn't realize it said that about 5 yrs from manufacture.
The salesman said something about that and I argued that it wasn't fair because they could have sat in a warehouse for many months before I bought them.
I guess I was close enough to the limit that they agreed to pay out of good will.
