Meds while on the road

We just came back from the Dr office and we talked to him about getting my wife's meds while in Yuma this year. My DW suffers from MS and has a lot of back pain thus she is on some heavy duty pain pills. Dr said he is all for getting the meds she needs but we are trying to find out if we can have him fax or send us the hard copies of the meds and have them filled in Yuma. Problem is the meds are very heavy duty and we can only get a 30 day supply and then he needs to rewrite the prescription. What do you guys do for meds in AZ? Do you have your medical records with you and do you have problems getting into a Dr down there to get new prescriptions? I need to know what to do before I get down there and she can't get her pain pills.

  • Last trip my wife's doctor wrote some post dated pain meds scripts for us to take with us so we could have them filled on the road.
  • If by "heavy duty pain meds" you mean narcotics-grade, you may have to have original prescriptions, not copies/faxes.

I found this out the hard way after my Husband had hip surgery and I thought I could just have his pain med scrips faxed over for pickup at the local drug store.
  • I get all my meds at Walgreen. I am always able to find a store.
  • Ask your Dr. to do a referral to a local Dr. in Yuma which you can see monthly.A few phone calls should set it up.We found the medical situation, staff and facilities very good in Yuma.Wouldn't be scared to get sich there at all.really nice people.Spent many hours with a sick friend down there.
