Thanks for the info folks, I'll be going the extra scrips route. Didn't know pharmacies would fill scrips from out of state Dr's. I'm under the impression that is not the case when it comes to meds for people, at least not in MA.
Out of curiosity, if I were to have one of MY personal scripts filled at a WM, could I then get refills on it at an out of state WM?
It is only Rx of schedule I/II/III drugs that people have problems with when fulltiming. Regular maintenance meds, through WM/Walgreen/CVS - not a problem getting refills as you travel. Just have physician write Rx for 90 days with 4 refills - you're good for the year. - Dog_TrainerExplorer

We use Walmart Pharmacy. Our Vet sends them just like our personal prescriptions.
Exactly what we do. As I know our vet well I have also been able to call him from he road and he has sent prescriptions to a Walmart near us wherever that might be. - John_JoeyExplorer

Yes, the WM will retrieve it from the other WM. Only time you will have issues is if it's a controlled substance (Tylenol with Codeine for example.) Then you will run into problems if you cross state boarders.
Walmart and Walgreens seem to be the easiest ones to work with when on the road. We like Walmart because IMO, they are the RV'ers best friend. - s_N_sExplorerWe purchased thru Walgreens. Our vet in FL faxes the script to our Walgreens here in MI. No problem at all.

She has seen 2 vets in MI, 1 in AL, 1 in MS and has 1 in IL. They have all worked together, taken copies of records, supplied medications as well as approving our online medication orders when not in their area. All 5 of these vets had no problem with making sure we have what we need. With the exception of this last medication, all have been filled at an online pet pharmacy. Sounds like you need a new vet.
- BarbaraOKExplorerYou do know that the vet works for you, right? If they won't, then find a new one. Lots of people we know have found that using the vets associated with Pet Smart works well for them as they travel. Records are electronic, help available where ever you are.

...Several have mentioned getting drugs or scrips mailed to us, has anyone ever gotten mail at a state park?...
I had my Hot water heater go out while in a MO state park. When I asked if I could have the part shipped to the park, the ranger told me that was a big no-no.
Private parks don't seem to have an issue with it though. - Thunder_MountaiExplorer II

Op here, a few things. Our vet doesn't provide info to the mail order places, says they are unreliable. Similar to what you hear about folks buying drugs from Mex or CAD. Our vet of course fills prescriptions, seems to be the way they all do things around here, you're stuck paying their prices.

Good to know I can get many of these drugs filled at a WM or such. I can get the vet to write out a couple extra scripts for each drug. Don't know if any of them are pet specific, I can find out.
I mentioned having them just give us 3 months worth of each on the last visit, didn't get a direct answer. Mentioned giving me extra scripts.
Your vet is trying to protect their territory e.g. profit. 800-Pet-Meds is reliable and price competitive. - Thunder_MountaiExplorer IIWe travel with three dogs and four cats. Two of the cats and two of the dogs are on some type of prescription meds or prescription food. We either get our home base vet to prescribe enough for a trip or she writes prescriptions that we have filled on the road. Never had a problem. Also 800-Pet-Meds works for some of our needs as well.
