We're in Blanding UT at Blue Mountain RV Park. We've been exploring around here down to Moki Dugway and Valley of the Gods. Explored the Needles area of Canyonlands yesterday.

One more day here and then on to someplace else.

Driveway camping at some friends' place while I wait for my new to me rig to be ready. Twiddling my dang thumbs! I'll do some work around their place while I'm here -- they have a gate needs fixing.

Long Pine State Recreation Area tonight. Someplace else tomorrow.

I was lucky to land the last spot at my first choice USFS CG. Bad news, they have the water pump shut down.

Should be in Yellowstone right now but we are home..............

That's an interesting strategy.

The parks around here mandate the person who paid for the site must occupy it the first night, and then someone must occupy it every night after through check out.

I think some of the parks let you park a hunting trailer in a site during off season, and it can be empty up to half of the nights paid or something complicated like that.

I'm not telling you if or where til I get back (if I'm going that is ) but I find it funny that so many claim headaches camping over the big holidays. I guess everybody has their own experience, but I have to say, we've done nothing but state parks over holidays and have never had an issue with crowds or traffic. Most summer weekends at these places are busy anyhow, but when the campground is full, it's full, no matter if it's a normal summer weekend or a holiday. The biggest difference I've seen is when to book. Major holidays better be booked almost a year in advance or you're not getting a site. Regular summer weekends you can do a month in advance usually.
