I used to cover mine each winter. When I did I used pieces of foam on all the corners to keep the cover from wearing on the edges. Even though ours was a custom cover and not a universal cover it always seemed to wear some on all the corners. I now have a large shelter that it stays under.
Unless the holes in your cover are large you can probably repair it enough for this year.
