There would have to be a large hole for a squirrel to get through, IMO.
I do agree that whole walnuts being brought into the camper doesn't sound like mice. I've found sticky traps work well. Peppermint, as others have said, seems to be a good deterrent. Years ago I used to spray a natural insecticide containing peppermint oil around the tires of my motorhome as a deterrent. Seemed to work OK. It also doubled as an insect deterrent. I don't think that insecticide is available anymore but anything containing peppermint oil would no doubt suffice..
I don't worry about mice too much in warmer weather. They like to get indoors when winter comes and an RV is very inviting.
