Michigan sales tax question

When I bought from RV Wholesalers in Ohio, they withheld Indiana sales tax and forwarded it to Indiana. They registered it in Ohio with a temporary plate and when I got the title from Ohio I went to Indiana to get my IN title and registration I paid up the rest of the sales tax they did not withhold (short 1%). Also, since it was an out of state, IN required the VIN number to be verified either at the license branch or via a form by the by the police.

I keep my RV in Ohio at a campground about 20 miles from RVW's so I had to get Ohio State Police to do the VIN verification on the form IN BMV gave me.
