I doubt that few if any complaints-to-mods demand/ask for thread closure- my guess is that most just object to particular posts or fistfights developing etc.
Judicious editing can/does solve that kind of problem, but probably opens up a whole NEW can o' worms for any Moderator that takes the trouble to do that. The very folks that get tossed are the most likely ones to "demand explanations" from the mods....Who needs that? I don't blame them for shutting things down instead- much easier and a whole lot less trouble.
The thing that blows my mind is that no matter how many times a particular foodfight/insultfest leads to thread closure, the very same combatants start all over again at the first opportunity-?
Either nobody learns anything from the closure, or closure is an objective to begin with, I guess.
