I never thought that bottled water was derived from any other source than a municipal source, unless it was one of those foo foo waters that claims to be from some natural spring. Bottled water is only as good as the process used to filter it. Water vending machines can produce quality, nearly impurity free water if they are maintained properly, one can only hope that is the case if you are dependent on using these devices.
I have no problem with tap water from a municipal source except for the residual taste of chlorine used by the majority of cities for sanitizing. As bottled water goes, it can vary dramatically in quality and actual content from manufacturer to manufacturer. We prefer Coke's Dasani and Nestlé's Pure Life water which are the leaders statistically. IMO they have the best taste as they reintroduce the minerals stripped from the water during the extensive filtering process.
We all need to drink more water to improve our overall health and drinking unfiltered tap water with the residual taste of chlorine just makes it difficult for me to do so. We have reverse osmosis at home and filters for our fridge as well. In our rig we have a dual canister filter system under our galley sink that we use for cooking. When it comes to drinking we reach for an ice cold Dasani or Pure Life, at 10 cents or less a bottle we find it to be so refreshing and we can easily drink several bottles daily. We always recycle to keep from clogging up the landfills.
