TechWriter - Thanks for providing the link to the actual government document. That really clarifies the situation.
As I read this it is all about a placard in the kitchen of a coach when sold that states the coach is designed and built to recreational vehicle standards and not designated for full time living. Big deal. Thousands are living in RV coaches not designed for full time living today as per their manufacturer. The proposal continues the distinction and exemption from home or manufactured home standards.
The last numbers I saw from RVIA indicated that the average RV is used less than twenty nights a year and that factored in all the full timers as well. What the RV industry needs to concentrate on is where the new purchasers will come from as the baby boomers age out. The dream of full time living for a few golden quality retirement years in an RV while wandering all around the country is not as totally embraced by the next generation coming up.
