Your description sounds like the dreaded chunking issue (free way hop).
There is a whole bunch of reasons some combos may exhibit chunking.
I just did a quick google and found dozens of reading on the issues.
Check out the cedarcreekrvownersclub.com and forrestriverforums.com as someone may have the same truck/trailer combo and found some answers.
