My Anniversary

I'll never understand why people with miserable attitudes feel the need to share it? But it is rampant on this forum.

I quit working about 6 years ago, retired last year.

Dang, some harsh people in here. Good job on retiring early.

Some of these responses are why I don't ask questions in here anymore.

I'm sorry Luke. I interpreted your statement wrong. At first interpreted it as hadn't worked for 20 years. Sorry ... I'm glad you enjoyed your job so must you didn't consider it working. I haven't worked a day in my life, but did retired from teaching at the age of 48 and haven't regretted a second of it. 64 now and lovin ever minute of what life has to offer me now ...Sorry again ..Congrats on your anniversary.

In the true sense of the word, I never retired, but I did quit working at 52. And since I've never hunted for another job since then, I consider myself retired. Since I was salaried, my company didn't have any qualms about calling me at half past horse manure at night to fix some computer problem for them, and I didn't have any qualms about quiting when I could afford it. I've never known anybody lying on their death bed that said they wished they spent more time at the office.
Luke: Glad you had the chance to "retire" while you were still on the green side of the sod.

Me retired from federal civil service in 2007 at 54 and 10 months with a buyout.
When the offer from the OO-AFLC reached my desk, I jumped up so fast almost conked my noggin on the ceiling LOL.

No regrets of course.
Drove a tow truck for a year after retiring because I thought I wanted to keep working.
Not true! ... learned to hate that job with all my might...

I now know that I can't afford to have a job and a retirement.

Maybe if the OP had clarified his retirement comments, things would have been more peaceful. I earned my retirement and am enjoying every minute of it without apologies to anyone.

If you are referring to the 20 years USAF.I agree I don't regret a day of it.Well...there was a couple of years remote duty overseas,but overall,no regrets,it was a great life!
