You are good to go.
X2 on the RPMs. Your truck cannot be "happy" or "sad" or any other emotion. It's just as "happy" at 3500RPM as 3200RPM, and you are not hurting a thing in either case. Let it do what it was designed to do. You're used to hearing the engine loping along at <2000RPM, but it needs to turn RPMs to make power when towing.
Drag is as much of a factor in towing and MPGs as weight. Remember you are pulling a billboard into a 65MPH headwind here.
