The first trick is to know how tall your rig is. When I bought my 'C', I had a satellite dome installed, so I don't know the exact height. I don't use the dome anymore, but it would leave a pretty big hole in the roof if I removed it, so it stays. However, I store my 'C' in a building that I own, so I measured the door opening. The door is slightly lower than 12 feet, so my 'C' will clear 12 feet. The next step was to buy a Motor Carrier's Road Atlas. If a semi fits, so do I.
The only surprise was on my trip to Alaska. Since my speedometer shows both MPH and KPH, I was good. But driving through Calgary in Canada I came upon a bridge with a vertical clearance in meters. Not much traffic, so I pulled over, did a little math and I was good. So I now have that number on my sun visor. BTW, 1 foot equals .3048 meters.
