Ralph Cramden,
I found that it is not worth it getting quotes after an accident. I had a traffic accident in 2013 (first ever). My rate did not change but the next year I had roof damage from a tree limb I hit and then my cost increased about 10 percent. When I wanted to shop rates in 2015 my agent said not to bother as all companies have my history and won't offer their best rates. But this year I received a check back on my yearly policy since the accidents don't count against us any longer. I will probably shop again this fall at renewal.
