- wnjjExplorer III'm sure the number of deadbeats who drive uninsured isn't helping either.
- ASCTLCExplorerInsurance rates are going up in the past few years as more and more people refuse to put their cell phones down while actively driving too.
The increasing cost of repairs combined with increases in the number of accidents is a large contributor of insurance rate hikes lately. Those two aren't just about you, it's about everyone else. - wildtoadExplorer IIAnd one thing to keep in mind with insurance ( all kinds ) is that's it's not all about you. Overall insurance costs go up because of many of the things listed above, plus overall costs to repair RV's. If the company is not making enough money across the book of business and they can justify the rate increase to the regulators the rates will go up. Good drivers with no violations or accidents help pay for those who do. Healthy people help pay for sick people.
- Ralph_CramdenExplorer IIShopping numbers as others said is the way to go, but the deck is stacked against you. Rates are set by area and claim statistics in that area. Rates are then clouded by "discounts" to make it look good. All these companies know what the other guy is charging you and they adjust accordingly to get you onboard.
My insurance jumped 60% due to an at fault accident and despite having "accident forgiveness". The "rate" however, did not increase according to them. I lost the safe driver and accident free discounts. The rate remained the same. Once that accident info is listed at such places as Lexis Nexis, it's availible to all of them, as is everything about you.
I have received 20 or more quotes since the increase, both online and through agents and brokers, and all are within $50 or so of each other.......a racket to say the least. - jerseyjimExplorerSomeone has to pay for all those TV ads.......

My mama told me, you better shop around, (shop, shop)
Oh yeah, you better shop around (shop, shop around)

Don't be sold on the very first one - dons2346ExplorerShop,shop,shop. Don't be loyal to one company, it never pays off. If your agent can't come up with a price you are happy with, time to shop agents
- beemerphile1ExplorerInsurance seldom goes down. Many things are a factor to your rates; credit score, address, driving record like speeding tickets, marital status, age, and on and on.
- doxiemom11Explorer IISomething to think about -- Did any of Progressive's expenses go up? Do they pay more for their employees wages, benefits, power bills, building maintenence. Do they pay a body shop more to fix someone's vehicle. Do they pay higher medical expenses when someone is hurt. Their expenses do not stay the same, they go up just like everyone else's expenses.
- romoreExplorer IIWe are facing the same issue, the problem here is we can't shop around for basic liability insurance. It is mandatory from our friendly neighborhood government run Insurance Corporation of BC. A recent audit gave them a fat F for fiscal mismanagement.
