- TerryallanExplorer IIThat one reason why we ALWAYS cook outside. that bacon grease, and ALL your cooking grease, and odors get inbedded in your RV. You will NEVER get those smells out. There will always be a layer of grease in the RV.
however. Cooking outside keeps the inside clean, food tastes better, and you get to enjoy the outdoors. There is no downside to cooking outside. There are many downsides to cooking inside. especially in bear country. Where I will be this weekend. Don't want to invite them in with cooking smells.
But then according to the news. I'm in bear country at home - ChooChooMan74ExplorerCook outside. That is what camping is all about.

- KrustyNomad III pulled my battery out the first time it made a racket. That was back in 2002. Haven't put it back in yet.

- americanrascalExplorerJust to clarify, its my understanding that while the device can and will detect a variety of smoke vapors, its primary function in any RV is to detect the presence of any form of cooking pork, then to set off an acoustical alarm that notifies all surrounding campers what you have on the stove at that moment. Most times these detectors work best while all others parked in the adjoining campsite are still in REM sleep (around dawn) and serves to arouse them from that slumber. I am on my 6th RV and about 8 SD alarms- and I have yet to have one fail to work in accordance with this apparent industry specification !! And having your screen door open to relieve the smoke when your alarm goes off-- we'll that's just being a downright neighborly camper --right!
As a connoisseur of all forms of pork prepared a'la stove top -my smoke detector carries about the same sentiment in our RV as my red solo cup- and that's pretty important. If it ain't makin noise at daybreak then I must not be RV camping properly or getting proper pork nutrition. - mpfiremanExplorerWife uses the smoke detector as her timer. When it goes off, everything is done. Kidding, we cook outside almost every meal, the only time we cook inside is because of bad weather.
- OasisbobExplorerSame here. We mostly cook outside for other reasons. Everyone likes bacon
- rvtenExplorerTry cooking a on a lower heat. Slows down the amount of grease smoke.
But than I do not like crispy bacon. - mockturtleExplorer III've always had to remove mine when I make toast.
