NADA guides price change

A 30' trailer of laminated construction uses @ 70-80 sheets of plywood or OSB of different thicknesses. Plywood and OSB have increased in price by @ 475% since Jan 21 2021. Oil has increased @ $20 per barrel in the same timframe which is used in the tires and seals, foam insulation, plastics, etc. Shortages of steel and aluminum abound. Dimensional lumber is up over 300%. There is also a shortage of workers. Why would I want to work in a fast paced RV factory getting paid by the piecework model, when McDonald's and Walmart are offering $15-$18 per hour, a $3K sign on bonus, and another $2-3 per hour if you stay for 90 days?

This is what some folks wanted, they got it, now enjoy it. You haven't seen anything yet, this is just the preliminary fun.

Just checked the NADA price on my 5th wheel, it is about the same as what I paid in 2016 for my trailer I purchased used... maybe a good time to sell...

Just for fun I ran a quick inventory search, actually using Camping World locations only. Within a 100 mile radius of me there are just over 400 units on the ground (with actual pictures -- not 'incoming' units), and they're all for sale. Most offering 'home delivery' too. I think the tide is turning.

RVs, boats, some cars/trucks, houses, and lumber, have all seen big price increases during this Covid ****, and I think the bubble will burst on some of that sooner than later.

It's pretty nuts, for sure.
We bought a new (used) Toyhauler last month, following selling our TC last fall for what we paid for it (used) in 2014.
After combing a 1000+ mile radius for a couple months and seeing anything decently priced (for this market) disappear very quickly, we found one that we thought was decent priced (for the market).
Had to scramble to snatch it up and I recall the price being barely under NADA low retail, a month ago.
Now, low retail is about $6k more than what we paid and $14k under "average" retail. With average retail being about $8k under original MSRP, or about the same amount OVER what would have been a good sale price, brand new, in 2017.


If it wasn't our older son's last summer at home, I swear, I'd sell the truck, camper and boat and buy a big mattress topper to smooth out the pile of money we'd have stuffed under our mattress!

Bluebook is laughable.
Prices are increasing. Multiple reasons. Inflation is one that we cannot escape and inflation is out of hand right now. Inflation will never deflate.
Lack of computer chips and other necessary small but important pieces that are only made in china are slowing delivery of new RVs (and everything else), so "supply" is lower thus "demand" in turn is higher.
Evergiven is still detained in Egypt port, who knows what things are on that ship that are needed by manufacturers to finish their products....
And, yes, the covid RVers! There are more than one family whos income is supplemented this last year at $600/week so the income earner stays home and does not work. Lots of time to vacation so the "demand" is of course up.
Buy now, I dont expect the prices to go down in the next year.
This election mess will continue to unravel for the next year or more and chaos will be the norm as it is now. Some advise to get out of the Dollar. DO your own homework, as I will not discuss this here.

We started discussing selling our 2007 5er a couple months ago and checked NADA pricing to get an idea of value. Got serious last week and, getting ready to list it, I checked the NADA value again. Yep, about $1,500 higher for my 14 year old 5er than before. Listed it on Facebook Marketplace on Wednesday for NADA average clean retail, got 3 inquiries Thursday, 4 more Friday, 2 more Saturday, and sold it Saturday to the first person who had inquired and came to look. The other 8 were still asking to look at it. No question on price. Probably could have listed it as "highest bidder" and got more. :B But I was happy with the price and quick sale. Marketplace is free, and local to your area, so showings can be quick and easy. Worked for me.

my buddy just sold his 2008 TT with limited decals on the outside due to Keyston'e JUNK decals..

He listed it at $2,000k above NADA as he has a decent trade offer.. He sold it for asking price within 24 hours of originally listing it.
