- d3500ramExplorer IIIWhat a shame... I have a project in Calistoga that has been shut down and construction crews evacuated.
- SidecarFlipExplorer IIIDoes that mean that cheap Gallo wine won't be cheap now?
- d3500ramExplorer IIII do not know about the Gallo or the Kendall genre but imagine that they would depending on current production number in stock around the country (I am not sure if those brands are produced there.) Our client produces $200+ wine but it is not in production yet at this location The winery and resort that we designed was only at the foundation stage so not much loss if the fires get to it. Underground infrastructure (wires, data cables, power, etc) will be more of a concern when we gear up again.
It is a minor inconvenience for my firm, but devastating for those who lost homes and lives. The town of Calistoga is under mandatory evacuation.
I cannot imagine what it is like there... I had a small 80 acre fire about a mile or two from me this summer... was not evacuated nor on standby. It was concerning even at that small size... I can kinda; empathize for the folks in the are going through this conflagration. - SidecarFlipExplorer IIIIf a winery depended on my supporting them, they would be in deep poo. I don't consume alcohol of any kind.
California is interesting. If it's not on fire, it has mud slides and if it is neither, it's quaking....

FWIW, I was raised in Michigan and glad I left their winters and mosquitoes to spend the next 55 years and counting in CA. I wouldn't trade our CA fires, mud slides, quaking, world class blue skies, world class winter/summer temperatures, and world class redwoods for any other place. In addition ... no RV winterizing, no RV interior mold, RV use the year round without snow tires/chains/4WD, and no RV chassis rusting from salt.
However, there is one big problem with CA - it's grocery stores aren't large enough to stock adequate grocery choices due to their wine sections are taking up way too much real estate. It seems a waste to us cuz we're Dyed-in-the-Wool water/tea/lemonade/coffee totalers. :C - bikendanExplorer

As a former resident of the area, who have had friends and family lose their homes, not to mention that 31 people have died with hundreds still missing, I don't think it's something to make jokes about.:(
I'm a retired firefighter from Napa and have fellow firefighters risking their lives to save people and property. - SidecarFlipExplorer III

Maybe you should come out of retirement and lend a hand.....:h
Did you see a smiley face next to my question? Don't think so.
Just like Houston, when a supply chain is disrupted prices increase. - minnowExplorerI agree 100% with bikendan
