I still don't get it. Someone please explain to me the almost O/C need to answer a phone, when doing so will frequently lead (more and more from what I read) to frustration and threads such as these. Why can you NOT answer a phone and instead let it go to voicemail or answering machine?

Unless I've been expecting a call within the next 5 minutes, I have not answered a phone in the last 16 years.
