That ISN'T how a wired POTS phone line works..
Phone company doesn't know and DOES NOT care if no phone is attached.
The "ringer" draws very little current and unless the phone company is testing your line they will not even notice that there is no phone.
To a caller it would simply ring, and ring, and ring, and ring (unless you have the phone company voice mail enabled, then you would get a FULL VOICE MAILBOX)..
I don't understand why it is so difficult to read the caller id and ignore the unknown calls..
That IS what caller id is for.. It is so YOU can make a decision whether to answer or not..
