I always answer the phone because it might be a friend or family member calling me in a emergency.
I don't have caller ID on my landline and I don't want to spend the extra money to get it.
But, as I said I hardly ever get sales calls. It probably helps that I rarely ever buy and sell things except at a store on on the internet.
On the other hand I get dozens of sales e-mails a day. Every few days I scan through my e-mail box, read any that are from people I know and then just hold Ctrl A and hit the thing for "Mark as Read" .
Honest to goodness, how darn cheap can you get.
Caller Id cost me a mere $1 per month or $12 per year and over 20 years that is a whopping $240 and at 50 years a mere $600..
For me, it is a godsend, I can screen out unwanted junk while able to answer the calls I DO want.
It saves me time and aggravation, in these modern times it is a cheap, cheap tool.
I do also have one additional calling feature which I love, before my phone co got bought up by another they offered anonymous Caller rejection. Yep, it cost a $1 per month but it weeds out anyone that has blocked their caller id!
No crank calls and only callers with IDs will ring my phone and that time I screen the calls.
If you are too cheap to pay for caller id the you MUST live with your own cheapness and suffer the wrath of spammers and scammers.
