P2 is a great choice of simple, affordable, and effective. I've had one for over 10 years.
Only thing, the P2 won't fit in that cubby hole. I don't know of any brake controller that would, though.
You might have to compromise on that, and find a different place to mount it.
A brake controller should really be mounted solid just in case you need to grab at the manual slider to apply brakes in an emergency. You don't want to be fumbling for a moving target, or God forbid, have it squirt out of your hand when you need it the most.
