Partly it's going to depend on where you tow. If you're planning on taking it up into some of the higher elevation areas of Nevada or California you'll get into some pretty serious elevation and that'll hurt a non-turbo gasser's performance. It would certainly be adequate but you're going to need to be comfortable with poor fuel economy, the right lane and lots of RPMs.
Now if you're going to mostly tow it locally and stick to points south and west and stay out of the Sierra's it would work better in that environment.
I towed 395 and 93 this year with my diesel and some of that country would stress a gasser pretty hard with that size trailer.
