Need toilet help. quick.

Ok... DW and I are seasonal, and our site doesn't have sewer hookup.
However the park has their own honey wagon, and dumps our tank twice a week if needed.

When they unhook their hose, you can hear the suction release. I belive this suction cracked the plastic "gate" that holds the water in the bowl. Now it will not hold water, and the sewer gas is coming into the camper because there's no water in the bowl.

Is this gate/flapper thingie hard to replace. It's a Thetford model 310.
I've got the manual and I do not see that part listed.

Thanks for any help.

There should be no suction, You have a roof vent, it's job is to insure there is no suction. If there is suction something is obstructing the vent.

Ok. The vent IS NOT OBSTRUCTED. It's been checked. Twice. The vent is smaller then the discharge. Thus when the honey wagons pump is full throttle, the vent cannot complete.

    Correct......

Vacuum (negative pressure) thru a 3" drain line vs atmospheric pressure thru a 1 1/2" vent line --------- VACUUM WINS!

Thus the REASON vacuum pump should be at idle (5hg or so) vs full throttle (22hg or more)
  • At all the different sporting events I have been at the honey wagon does NOT use ANY suction directly to your tanks.

They have a bucket, they hook up a short sewage hose to your RV and open the valve gate into the bucket and at the same time they put their suction hose "IN the bucket". No suction ever touches your holding tanks.
