neighbors

Sorry I forgot to post this earlier.
We were at Highlands Hammock Christmas weekend.
Neighbors showed up well after dark, had a flat on the way in.
Several drunk friends try to help get the @30' toy hauler backed in.
Driver was sober and did a great job in the dark, with people shining their flashlights in his eyes via the mirrors.
Next morning he went to unhitch from the truck.
Stabilizers were down. He just kept that poor electric hitch jack wining, till the trailer popped off the ball.
Problem is he didn't loosen the back stabilizers, and just lifted the front stabilizers 8" off the ground with the hitch jack.
The back stabilizers weren't happy but held.
He left it that way all weekend.
????????

  • Its one thing to be helpful and have it be appreciated and quite another to be rudely rebuffed for trying to prevent someone from damaging their rig, let alone campground property. We saw a guy at Grand Canyon Railway CG in a very nice Newmar pull out and rake the side of his coach on a post at the end of his site. The wife tried to warn him and get him to stop BUT...the look on his face was like a mad man and was not about to listen to anyone. He had to have done thousands of dollars of damage to his coach. Oh well. How do you help people like that? Its not that people get their jollies from watching others misfortunes, its just that some people don't want to acknowledge their "stupid".

I'm sure he probably sued the campground for his stupidity.

Well exactly the reason the 5er has backup lights, and they are strong. I hope I don't need to use them, but they are there.

As to backing into hard spots, current host location required backing down a narrow road about 50 yards before backing into the graveled site.
