I think we are getting a little off track with the "should police be allowed an exemption to the distracted laws while on duty". I think they should be allowed. It is one of the risks I am willing to accept to allow them to do their job. But the travel distance their vehicle goes while not watching the road is the same as everyone else's. I am on the road 8-10 hours a day and there is no shortage of these professional police and cdl drivers making bad driving choices. The big difference with the police is everyone is trying to stay away from them giving them that additional cushion for their distracted driving.
