New high (or low?) in overloading

Thought I had seen it all when the guy a couple blocks away purchased a 10K+ GVW 34' travel trailer to tow behind his '06 Tacoma quad cab 4x4 truck. In traffic the other day, I see a Mini Cooper in front of me. Mounted on the back was a weight distributing hitch ball mount. Didn't know anyone made a 2" receiver hitch for that little car. Would love to see what he tows with it, as long as I am not on the highway at the same time. :O

8690 lbs is the weight listed for that 35x8 dual slide trailer from Forest River. They stopped making that model in 2006.

Not wanting to be branded as the weight police, but that is too heavy for his truck. I should say something to him. He has a wife and two kids. He is out of his tree. He bought the trailer here in town, off a private party. At least he didn't have to go far to pick it up.

  • Trailer that the Tacoma guy has is a Salem M341 RLDS. Not sure what dry weight is, but it is quite huge. Way too big for his truck.

And you're sure that Taco is not a Tundra?

No, it is the compact size Tacoma. Will get model info. from trailer to see if a ballpark empty weight can be obtained on line.
  • I'm not the weight police for sure, but that is plain ridiculous with the Tacoma. Some of the fault is on the dealership as well. They should be more responsible and tell people no.

It's possible the 10k lb TT has a 4k lb CCC. So 6k dry and possibly 7k ready to travel.
  • Forgot to mention the Mini Cooper also had a 7 pin connector flush mounted in the rear bumper cover.
