New Location For Licensing

I am SD currently. We traveled to SD around 4 years ago and spent the night and established our Domicile there. Obtained Drivers License and Mail Forwarding in Madison. The Company is now defunct. My DL expires later this fall.

I was under the assumption when we first did this we could renew by mail within 6 mo of our DL expiration, that info was FALSE. We have to spend the night within one year of our DL renewal. Bottom line I don't want to drive from CA to SD!!!

I mostly have the SD DL and License Plates so I can Double tow in CA and it seems to work in OR and WA (YES it's NOT legal there).

I would like to get my License Plates and DL in AZ since double tow is legal there and CA recognizes them also. AZ in not too far from where I winter in CA.

So now you have the background, SUGGESTIONS?

exactly. you're gonna have to show up in person regardless of the state you pick.

I understand that. It’s 1,200 miles to SD and a couple hundred to AZ or so.

    How about some recommendations.
  • Hopefully you have verified license, insurance, taxes, as well as inspections and all the other cost involved in the change.

  • Guess I was not clear, a trip to SD is NOT going to happen. I want to be able to license my Truck, RV, MC Trailer and MC in AZ.

Why not switch to a different SD mail forwarder?
Then have the license renewed with the new address.

X2. we spent some time at the America's Mailbox small RV park a couple of years ago while I was being treated and recovering from a bad kidney stone. spent some time with the owner and saw his operation up close. really nice fellow and seemed to be a well run operation.
