This is not a New Scam, I have run acrossed it a few times. I make it a point to report it to the FBI Cyber Crimes Division, And then let them know i did. I am Im the Military and think it is discusting that they would do this sort of thing. I wish the New updated stolen Vallor billed passed would also cover that, but it doesnt. Ive Played them back and forth a few times and actually gotten them to slip up and reply from a different Email, Or use a different name. Good Job Catching it.
