New style entry steps

It looks like all the new trailers are being sold with the new style entry steps that fold up in the doorway opening. I was wonder what those who have them thought about the new style?
I was wondering if the dirt on the steps end up inside the trailer?

My concern is this. (I do not have them by the way) Sometimes when I'm parked my steps are actually touching the ground. other times it's a "Big step" to the first step. With those "new style" you are going to end up with tilted steps (not flat) and it can be very tilted.. In fact if the entry side of the RV is high enough you are climbing a ladder not a stairway.

sounds like a bad idea to me.
    bumpy
  • I have the new style steps. Mine are the Lippert "Solid Steps". They do bring in extra dirt or water if it's raining. They also don't always lay flat so the screen door doesn't always shut easily. If there's too much tilt, the doors won't close at all. You also need a few feet of clearance as stated earlier to get in/out of your trailer. The plus side is they are protected while not in use and they are very stable when able to be used correctly. They also don't rust. My old trailer had the fold out type steps and they were starting to rust after a few years.
  • The Torklift Revolution Glow Steps are a far better step. The are adjustable up an down and you can get in your camper even in a tight garage....

We replaced our factory 3 steps with the Morryde 3 step unit. One of our best mods. They work great. You can hardly feel anyone getting in/out of the trailer. We try to keep them clean anyway to minimize dirt tracked into the TT. I added a box where the old steps were and keep chocks and blocks in there. We bought the hand rail also but didn’t like or need it.

don't know, i have the exterior kwickee steps
but is dusty areas, or tiny gravel/sand, twigs etc

it all ends up on my inside steps anyway
it is going to be tracked in . regardless
unless you take your shoes off outside

If you think you have a lot of debris inside you rig now, try bring the entire step into the trailer and flip it over....you'll have even more.
Bringing exterior step inside is just a bad idea from the start
  • I do not like them at all; I park my TH in a barn with and there is
about 3 ft between the door and the barn wall. If i had the new style
stairs then I would not be able to get into the camper.
