New Tires

I want to purchase 4 new tires for camper. What is on there is f78-15st st205/75d15. I don't know much about tires. But - I was told they are different for campers. Sears does not sell them. So the salesman said. I assume the code beginning is type and second is size. When I do search on internet I do full code, but many times what comes up is last part about size. I want to make sure I am clearly getting the right tires. They will go on a 1989 6500lb trailer. I see tires for 50 bucks, then 100+. I'd like decent tire, but don't want to break the bank. Going to be driving 10 hours to and from soon and want to make sure I have no issues. Ha...hmmmm...well trying.;)

  • Yes, you need an ST (Special Trailer) tire. Large chains like Discount tire sell them. Most other dealers can get them. You want to ask them for Maxxis or Saliun brands as they seem to be the best of the worst. The dealer will likely have to order them, so tell them you wont accept any tire more than six months old. They way you get fresh tires. And YES, it will make a difference in 3 to four years.
