I have the same hitch in my 2014 Ram. I tried to find a 2.5 inch shank that dropped enough, but couldn't find one. I used the adapter, but it still had some slop in it... the sleeve had some slop, and the shank in the sleeve had slop as well (double slop). so I just had a local truck accessory shop weld the adapter in. Cost me like $25 bucks and it's all nice and snug.
