With this latest development, there could be some SERIOUS risk involved. Did you ask the doctor about taking the patient on this trip ? This is the same one that gets car sick.....right ??

And exactly how do you propose to "avoid Chattanooga" ??
The only two practical ways to do that without getting into a worse mess is to "box" your route, either south or east almost to the coast and the east or south to avoid the mountains completely.
