You aren't driving through some obscure South American country where you might get eaten by cannibal rabid monkeys (though reading this thread, maybe Chattanooga counts? haha!).
You aren't even venturing off the main freeways. There are gas stations, Walmarts, hospitals, doctors, mechanics, RV repair shops, airports, police, tow trucks, McDonalds, divorce lawyers, psychiatrists, snow cone shacks, etc.
On top of all of that, you get to stop when you want, have your own fridge/stove/toilet, overnight where you like, take longer if you have to, you can drive slow up and down hills, stop to take pictures, etc. You will engage more with your kids than you probably typically do.
Go team!
