Nice feature on some forums... "thanks" button.
I was in a recent thread on the boondocking forum-asked a question which was nicely answered by two people. I'd like to give a brief thank you and and acknowledge I saw the responses. I could reply in the thread, but that would push it to the top and for most it would be a content free post. I could PM but I view that function is to be used sparingly and only for a more involved conversation.
Some forums have a thank you button which I think is perfect for this situation. It directs a thanks to the inbox of the person of choice. It would be great in this forum as there can be a lot of helpful replies.
Edit: Several people rightly pointed out a boilerplate thanks message is impersonal. On airforums, the thanks button is accompanied by a text box to write a short personalized message. I think this is ideal.
