I ran into a new phenomenon last fall camping in Yosemite. There are young people that are out all day in their cars driving around. They must go out to dinner. They show up at dark only to sleep and leave early in the morning. They are sleepers not campers.
There is another group we called the "night Germans." They have foreign cars and wear Adidas track suits. They only are there at night. We got a "gutten morgen" out of them and they were gone.
A lot of people in both groups show up in the dark and set up their tents with the use of their headlights. They were relatively quiet, but the headlights are annoying. I have never seen this level of popularity of sleeping but not camping.
I have seen this often...and last trip in Red Rocks State Park in Nevada. They roll in after dark..set up...sleep...and are out the gate just before the morning Ranger patrol arrives. (I was parked at a view point for sunrise and it was a race out to beat the Ranger)
Although I avoid campgrounds like the plague, what I never do is crawl into a cg, use the services and scoot out, not paying.
That is theft.
