I ran into a new phenomenon last fall camping in Yosemite. There are young people that are out all day in their cars driving around. They must go out to dinner. They show up at dark only to sleep and leave early in the morning. They are sleepers not campers.
There is another group we called the "night Germans." They have foreign cars and wear Adidas track suits. They only are there at night. We got a "gutten morgen" out of them and they were gone.
A lot of people in both groups show up in the dark and set up their tents with the use of their headlights. They were relatively quiet, but the headlights are annoying. I have never seen this level of popularity of sleeping but not camping.
I'm not sure if this is the same phenomenon or not. Last year, we drove from Marquette to Munising, MI. (Pictured Rocks). We were to re-visit some of the many waterfalls in the area. HOWEVER, the area was inundated with foreign-speaking folks. They crammed into the small visitor center in Munising, so we went on to see some of the waterfalls. Every place we stopped the two-track roads were lined on both sides with cars and completely clogged. These are small local areas, and I had never seen this much activity before. There must have been at least 300+ vehicles involved; mostly cars.
